One day after preschool, Eliza's teachers had me come into the classroom and see Eliza's black bats. She had been working hard on making these bats, and her teachers had put them up on the walls. The top one is upside down because that's how bats hang, Eliza explained. She had carefully cut out the lower bat - perfect skinny legs and little toes. On the other side of the room there were two more black papers - I recognized one of them as one of Eliza's drawings of a bat and the paper next to it had some white lines drawn on it. Her teachers explained that she had shown a classmate how to make a bat, too, and both of their papers were displayed. That is so cute!
One day we got out all our costumes and the kids had a lot of fun trying them on and deciding what they would be for Halloween.

Ben liked the skeleton costume I got for him at the last Mom2Mom sale for $3. The sale before that I bought him a Superman costume for $7 but I could tell Ben wasn't completely thrilled about it even though he was so sweet and grateful. He tried it on and ran around in it and seemed to be pleased, but I could just tell it wasn't exactly what he had in mind. He said sweetly, "Mom, I really like this. I'll be this for Halloween this year... and then maybe next year I'll have a mask." When I came home with this one the next week, his excitement about it was the happy response I was hoping for. :)
Even though the lion costume was size 2T/3T and fit Sammy perfectly, Eliza really wanted to try it on. After playing in it for a few minutes, she decided she wanted to try on the purple dragon costume next, which was size 6-12 months. Yeah, that didn't get too far. I should have taken a picture of her trying to squeeze her body inside it. Hehe!
Eliza got to dress up for ballet class. She chose to be a bumblebee.
We had a super fun time at our annual Ward Trunk-or-Treat Chili-cookoff party.
Our little Charlotte pumpkin was getting cuddles all night from her favorite lady in our ward, Jennifer French. Sister French holds Charlotte every Sunday during the last two hours of church. She carries her in a sling and Charlotte takes a happy nap every week.
On Halloween, we got to go to Ben and Eliza's school (Ben is in 2nd grade and Eliza is in half-day preschool) and watch them in the Halloween Parade. Then we got to play with them at their Halloween class parties. Eliza chose to be a ladybug for the school parade.

After we got home we leisurely read some Halloween books until Daddy woke up from his nightshift and it was time for dinner.
We had Frankenstein pudding cups with our dinner. :)
We were ready for trick-or-treating right at 6pm. Not a minute to lose! :) Well, at least that quickly became Ben's train of thought, since we were only at our neighbor's house in this picture and he was already way up the street. We had to catch up with him and insist that he walk with us!
I dressed up like a witch. Thank you Mom for the awesome witch's hat, and thank you Michel for the perfect black cape! :)
We bundled all the kids up underneath their costumes. Charlotte was nestled underneath blankets in her carseat in the stroller. She is such a doll!
Sammy had a sucker in his mouth the whole hour we were trick-or-treating and was enjoying every moment of this 'no limits on candy' time. He lost no time digging in when we got home. As you can see, he is clutching a sucker in both hands. :)
In fact, all three kids dumped their buckets as soon as we walked in the house, and then they sat down to gorge themselves on that hard-earned candy. I told them they had to look at me and smile if they wanted to eat any more candy. Hence the desperate smile on Ben's face and the humungo smile on Eliza. :)
As soon as we got in the door, Daddy scooped Charlotte out of her carseat and sat with her on the couch. We had such a fun night! Happy Halloween!
