April pictures

Sam was just over one month old in these pictures.

Eliza likes to be with me sometimes while I am getting ready in the mornings. This morning she found a stack of books I had placed next to the stairs to put away, and she carried them into my bathroom to read. I thought she looked pretty cute sitting there, engrossed in her book.

Benjamin is modeling the little recliner armchair that I bought at a Mom2Mom sale that morning. I paid $10 for it, and already my kids love it. For how much they love looking at books, I know it will get lots of use in Ben's room sitting next to his bookcase. Last of all, a quick picture of Sam and I after church. He was wearing the cutest little outfit that my friend, Jen, picked out for him. She called it a 'little man' outfit. :)

General Conference Weekend in April

On Easter Sunday we got to watch General Conference at home. (General Conference is held twice a year when all the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 'gather', via satellite, in their homes and churches to listen to the prophet and apostles teach.)
It is always motivating and inspiring to hear their words. This year Benjamin was able to pay attention a little bit.

On Monday Jed did another awesome Family Home Evening. He had Benjamin look up scripture stories in his Book of Mormon Stories book and then give Jed the secret password (the page number) and then he got to go find another clue. At the end of the treasure hunt, we discovered Banana Cream Pie! :) Eliza was pretty excited for the treat and actually stuck her hand in it!
Jed got Eliza all cozy in the quilt one morning...

Easter 2010

On Easter Saturday we had our Easter Egg Hunt and our Basket Hunt, and gorged ourselves on candy! We had already dyed eggs with Grandma Walker the week before, so Jed hid our hardboiled Easter eggs all around the front room for the kids to discover. After the eggs were collected, we played a game where you tap your hardboiled egg against the egg of another person, and whoever's egg doesn't break is the winner, and gets to collect all the eggs they clobbered. This was SO FUNNY! Eliza was amazing at this game! She had a knack for smashing up Ben's eggs. A few times she blindsided him with an astounding wallop against his innocent egg. We caught it on video - it is really funny. It happens at 1 minute 45 seconds (1:45) and at 2:30 in the video.

The night before, the Easter bunny hid the baskets. :) So we had a great time searching for Easter goodies. Jed was trying to help Eliza find her own basket and said, "Is it in the toy closet?" and she took a step over there and craned her neck (the toy closet doors were closed) and confidently replied, "Nope!" Funny little girl.

Jed gave me two of my favorite things in my Easter basket...
1) Two bags of Cadbury Mini Chocolate Eggs with a candy coating = heaven on earth. Friends of mine say they will buy a few bags at Easter time so that they can enjoy them when they are no longer available, but that would simply never work for me. I would have them eaten in about 72 hours. (Assuming I stocked up on, say, 50 bags.) I wish someone else would buy 12 bags for me and give me one bag a month. Then I would have a blissful first day of each month. But the other 30 days I would be conniving ways on how to discover the rest of their stash... So I guess not such a good idea. Anyway, I LOVED this treat and kept my bags hidden in random kitchen drawers (away from Jed who doesn't appreciate their worth), until he would discover them and start popping handfuls of them in his mouth while saying to me, "These aren't even that good." That is just sinful.
2) The dvd movie Australia with Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. Wow - my favorite movie ever. Jed and I have rented it twice and I seriously love it. The love story between Hugh and Nicole is amazing, but it goes deeper than that because of the sweet relationship they develop with a little orphan boy... It is moving. The characters grow so much, and the love they each have for each other is so endearing. Anyway, I love it, and Jed is a sweetie to get it for me.

Happy Easter!

a conversation...

Me: "Jed, are you nuts?! That's ELIZA'S diaper!!"
Jed: "What? Oh. Well, look at it- It's fine - It fits perfectly!"

Grandma Walker came to visit!

Jed's mom, Michel, came to visit us when Sam was two weeks old. We loved having her!!
Here is Sam getting his very first bath in the baby tub.
He is such an easy going baby. He hardly ever cries, even when he is getting bathed-- although he sure has a pained expression the entire time!

Michel helped me finish Ben's bedspread that I quilted last Fall. I had already finished the top and bought the batting, but I still needed to buy the backing and sew it all together. We stretched it out on the quilt frames and quickly basted down the rows to keep it together on the sewing machine. Now I just need to do the binding and it will be finished.
Here is Eliza reading to her dolly, sitting on the ground next to Grandma as we worked on the quilt. She has been pulling funny "cheese!" faces for pictures lately. :)

This is my favorite picture of Sam! He discovered his thumb!

Ben is reading The Friend magazine to Eliza...

We got to dye Easter eggs while Michel was visiting. We had a great time!
